Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with a focus on long-held passive asanas (postures) that work into the deeper connective tissues. This mobilises and strengthen joints and ligaments and works deep into fascial networks.
The yin yoga practice also provides a workout for the mind as you stay in an asana for a number of minutes riding the ‘comfortable’ edge of a stretch. This is where the true essence of yoga – calming the mind – comes into play as you attempt to retain equanimity of mind when it really wants to focus on what is happening in your body.
Yin Yoga is a deeply calming and restorative practice that uses a number of props and aids to make it easily accessible to all abilities.
